Katie Hewston

Professional Experience

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and fully accredited member with the BABCP. I have ten years experience working therapeutically with individuals across the lifespan, experiencing a range of emotional difficulties, which include anxiety and depression, PTSD and complex trauma, eating disorder, personality disorder and psychosis. Furthermore I have experience of working with young people in supporting them in managing their emotional distress, often related to but not exclusively, body image, low self-esteem, worry, academic stress and transition to adulthood.

I have a strong background in working within both female and male focused services, working therapeutically with both severe and enduring mental health difficulties alongside common anxiety and depression disorders, helping support individuals to overcome emotional and shame based difficulties. I strive to enable others to seek help and support when they need it and to break down stigma related barriers to accessing mental health services.

I have a strong interest in working with trauma, body image and low self-esteem in supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals.

Interpersonally, I strive to provide a compassionate, empathic and transparent approach which fosters and facilitates hope, through empowering individuals to overcome their emotional difficulties.
